Wednesdays, April 7 – June 9, 2021, 10:30am – 12noon.
NOTE: This class did not get enough sign-ups so is not being offered Spring 2021. If you are interested in taking Intermediate Yiddish through HaMaqom in the future, contact HaMaqom at firstname.lastname@example.org
This course is for those who can already speak rudimentary Yiddish.
Focus in this class will be on interactive conversation with the instructor and among the students (almost) entirely in Yiddish. The instructor will work on improving your Yiddish diction so that you can converse in a geshmake (tasteful) and neshumedig (soulful) mame loshn with native Yiddish speakers. The instructor will help you develop grammar skills and grow a vocabulary.
Included will be salient aspects of the history and evolution of Yiddish as grist for class geshmeesen (conversation). Students will also master at least 50 Yiddish shprekhverter (expressions) and vitzlekh (witticisms), some rated PG and R. Weekly heym arbet (homework) assignments will be provided as well as a recording of class activities sent to each student immediately after the class.
Presented by HaMaqom.
