Last year YTE was thrilled to collaborate with the prestigious San Francisco Playhouse to co-produce the Tony Award-winning Broadway play, Indecent by Paula Vogel. This Bay Area premiere, directed by San Francisco Playhouse co-founder Susi Damilano, ran September 22 through November 5, 2022. It received rave reviews and had sell-out shows. ( review links)
This partnership gave audiences the chance to see two extraordinary shows inherently connected: our co-production of Indecent live at the San Francisco Playhouse and YTE’s award-winning 2021 video adaptation of God of Vengeance by Sholem Asch – the play that inspired Paula Vogel’s Indecent.
This was also a great opportunity for both companies to share their resources and expertise. YTE Co-Artistic Directors Laura Sheppard and Bruce Bierman consulted on casting, history, authenticity, music and musicians. Bruce was engaged as Dramaturg and Yiddish Dance Consultant and Laura worked extensively with the Director of Marketing developing community outreach and cosponsors.
