Jessica Kate Meyer began her career in film, theater, and television projects in Europe and the United States: most notably, in a principal role in Roman Polanski’s acclaimed 2002 film, The Pianist. She will tell stories from her experience filming The Pianist in Warsaw, and relate how studying for the role of Helena Szpilman eventually led to finding her calling in the rabbinate.
Rabbi-Hazzan at The Kitchen in San Francisco, and formerly rabbi and musical leader at Romemu in New York City, Jessica Kate Meyer received rabbinic ordination from Hebrew College. She studies sacred Jewish music with masters from Sephardic and Ashkenazi traditions and performs with ensembles in the U.S. and Israel.
