The Yiddish Culture Fund
Passover marks the start of a long journey.
KlezCalifornia is very pleased to announce that we have met the $18,000 challenge from The Frederick J. Isaac Philanthropic Fund for The Yiddish Culture Fund. We are so grateful for the generous gifts from 251 individuals! Please continue to donate!
KlezCalifornia’s Yiddish Culture Fund is creating a new generation of Yiddish cultural leaders — by supporting the programs they produce. We are actively ibergebn di leytses (passing the baton) to a younger generation of Yiddish culture enthusiasts — and we are azoy tsufridn (so overjoyed) that this is happening! KlezCalifornia’s Board of Directors has announced a $10,500 challenge, to match all gifts to The Yiddish Culture Fund. Please give as generously as you can.

It’s a new beginning and we need you with us. Please give generously to The Yiddish Culture Fund. Your $180 will rejuvenate Yiddish culture. $72 will bring new life— a mekhaya. As always, your gift of any amount is truly appreciated. The journey is for all of us. Everyone is needed. Donate online today or mail a check to the address below payable to KlezCalifornia, with YCF in the comment line.
The $50,000 Yiddish Culture Fund will subsidize events our partners choose to produce. Events are already being organized by younger leaders, but with limited budgets and reach: Yiddish song and dance parties, klezmer instrumental workshops and jams, reading groups of Yiddish stories and poetry in translation, language classes and conversation groups. With your support these programs — and more — can thrive.
Together we are returning to our roots: nurturing a multi-generational, Yiddish-loving community with in-person, community-building events. The Yiddish Culture Fund is subsidizing and growing these events. We are getting the word out to KlezCalifornia’s 3000 members while providing younger Yiddish culture producers the funding, mentorship and connections we gained over our 20-year history.
KlezCalifornia has successfully connected individuals and communities with Yidishkayt. Your tax-deductible gift is enabling us to make the transition to a new generation of leadership celebrating and creating Yiddish cultural expressions.
It is an ambitious journey of transition — and cultural transmission.
