Thursday night music Mishmar is a weekly sacred music jam that rotates between different Jewish community spaces in the East Bay. The intentions of this gathering are to musically energize and connect the East Bay community, promote local music, share new music, and prepare musically and spiritually for Shabbat (Shabes). Acoustic instruments are encouraged. Lyrics and chords are projected so that everybody can sing and play along.
This week: special guest Craig Judelman leading Ukrainian nigunim (Jewish wordless melodies). Craig is a fiddler and composer who performs and teaches klezmer; he’s on tour right now (see events 2/5 in Berkeley and 2/7 in Santa Cruz).
At Moishe House Rockridge, 6012 Claremont Ave, Oakland.
Mishmar is presented by the Sacred Music Fellowship. Donations encouraged to support the teacher.
