The Klezmer Institute supports Ashkenazic expressive culture through research, teaching, publishing, and programming.

• The Kiselgof-Makonovetsky Digital Manuscript Project (KMDMP) is making available a treasure trove of over 1400 handwritten klezmer pieces from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These were previously unavailable in a library in in Ukraine. See “Rescued: The Lost Treasures of Klezmer – Apple Podcast.”  This is a three-part interview with Christina Crowder, Executive Director of The Klezmer Institute about the KMDMP and her musical and spiritual journey.

• The Digital Archive Project is creating a digital archival tool for interaction, discovery, and research on available information about klezmer music and its network of contemporary and historical people. It takes individual melodies as the primary artifact.
