36th Annual East Bay Tikn (Tikkun)

A Day of learning in Honor of Shevuis, which begins Tuesday evening

The JCC East Bay welcomes you to this beloved community event!
Once again, in partnership with dozens of Bay Area synagogues and organizations, we will offer a day of community learning in honor of Shevuis (Shavuot). For safety and security, event pre-registration is required. Shortly before the event, all registered attendees will receive a PDF schedule of classes emailed to the email address with which they registered.

Six one-hour sessions, each with 4-8 choices, which will include two presented by KlezCalifornia:

Learn to make paper-cut royzelakh for Shevuis, with Claire Sherman
In Eastern Europe Jews decorated their windows for Shevuis with these paper-cut roses, which are reminiscent of paper snowflakes. Learn the secret to folding them so that one snip creates a mogn dovid (Jewish star) in the center. Appropriate for anyone who can cut with scissors. No artistic talent needed!

Singing Around the Campfire in Hebrew and Yiddish, with Judy Kunofsky and Claire Sherman
We will sing around the campfire in Hebrew and Yiddish, except in comfortable chairs, no campfire, no marshmallows, no mosquitoes, and no flashlights. Songsheets provided. Achi Ben Shalom will accompany us on guitar.
