East Bay Jewish Music Festival

The San Francisco Yiddish Combo will host an East Bay Jewish Music Festival. This event features two musical acts performing Jewish music and beyond, plus a guest speaker. The San Francisco Yiddish Combo will headline this festival, joined by Saul Kaye, who bridges the gap between the Delta and the Torah,and guest speaker Dr. Elaine Leeder, professor emerita of Sociology from Sonoma State University, will be giving a humorous talk. Held at the cozy and intimate Back Room in Berkeley, the afternoon will begin with a performance by Saul Kaye, a pioneer of the musical genre, Jewish Blues. Saul brings together the sounds of the struggle of the African Slaves in this country with the history of the Jewish slavery experience. This will be followed by a short talk from Dr. Leeder on an engaging and non-political topic related to Judaism. To finish the afternoon, the San Francisco Yiddish Combo will perform a wild klezmer concert.
