Hot Pstromi Concert and Dessert Reception

Hear San Diego’s Hot Pstromi (Yale Strom and Elizabeth Schwartz) at Peninsula Temple Beth El, in San Mateo. There is no charge, but please register by November 28. A special dessert oneg will follow the performance. Mark your calendars for music and learning!

Yale Strom (violin) and Hot Pstromi is a U.S.-based klezmer ensemble that was started in 1982. Elizabeth Schwartz is the band’s singer. Yale Strom has become one of the world’s most productive and influential scholar-artists of klezmer culture and history. He has composed original music that combines klezmer with Chasidik melodies, as well as Roma, jazz, classical, Balkan, Arabic and Sephardic motifs.  Strom’s compositions range from folk to orchestral, and works have been performed by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Hausmann Quartet, Burdick-Thorne String Quartet, Rachel Barton Pine, Mike Block, Bordeaux Philharmonic, the Ostrava Philharmonic of the Czech Republic, and others. He has also composed original music for theatre, film and television.
