KlezCalifornia August Kumzits CANCELLED

This Kumzits has unfortunately been CANCELLED due to insufficient registration. Check the Event Directory for additional fun events this month presented by KlezCalifornia or other organizations.

Join KlezCalifornia for our seventh kumzits, and first planned for Walnut Creek in the Diablo Valley. Because of COVID-19, we have converted this kumzits into an online event.

Meaning “come sit,” a kumzits is a fun, participatory event for all ages at which every person does something for 2-5 minutes: tells a Jewish joke or story, sings (or leads) a Yiddish song, plays a klezmer or Yiddish tune, recites a Yiddish poem, etc. We go around once or twice. Everyone participates! No “passing”!

This event is in English, as are all KlezCalifornia events except Salons for fluent speakers. If you want to do something in Yiddish, please be prepared to also do it in English.

Kumzitsn are free, but we hope you will consider a donation of $15 sliding scale (i.e. whatever you can afford).

You are welcome to provide your own refreshments.
