Kol: A Retreat for Jewish Music Across the Diaspora
Urban Adamah presents a weekend of music, Shabes practices, and community building. This participatory retreat brings together singers, musicians, and learners of diverse backgrounds and ages to explore both ancestral and modern Jewish music. Everyone is a learner, everyone is a teacher. Together with our faculty teachers, we will co-create the weekend. Bring your songs and spirit to share. “We are committed to making space for Jewish and non-Jewish people of all backgrounds and intend to include a diverse array of music cultures. We sing and play for our love of healing, community and liberation, and to ground and elevate ourselves.”
Numerous workshops include
• singing nigunim
• writing original nigunim
• Yiddish singing, with Reyna Schaechter
Te retreat will be structured like a Shabbaton with Shabes services on Friday evening and Saturday morning, music workshops on Saturday and Sunday, and closing on Sunday.
