Klezmer by Ear Workshops, with Lisa Gutkin

Do you hear melodies in your head and wish that you could figure out how to play them? Have you always wanted to play by ear, but think you can’t? Do you hear ornaments but struggle to make the sounds? If so then Lisa Gutkin’s workshop is for you. Lisa teaches classic klezmer tunes, while sharing ear training and practice techniques that are virtually foolproof. All levels and all instruments are welcome.

About Lisa Gutkin» Lisa Gutkin is best known as a long time member of the Grammy Award-winning Klezmatics, and for her score and performance in the Tony Award-winning Indecent. She was a backup musician in the Fast Folk Collective, co -founded the “downtown” celtic band, Whirligig, and has had an eclectic career. She’s co-authored songs with Woody Guthrie, Anne Sexton, and Maggie Dubris, performed and composed for Sex and the City, played in Sting’s The Last Ship, written two film scores for Pearl Gluck, and is a MacDowell Fellow.
