Lomir Zingen! Let’s Sing with the Jewish Folk Chorus of San Francisco POSTPONED

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED AND WILL BE RESCHEDULED.

The Zingeray ensemble of the Jewish Folk Chorus of San Francisco, now in its 97th year, will perform an afternoon program of songs with selections in Yiddish, Ladino, Russian, and Hebrew. Singing and participation will be encouraged for everyone of all ages. The Chorus has been spreading Yiddish music and culture since the 1920’s and is delighted to fill the Magnes with songs reflecting the tapestry of Jewish life — joy, struggle, justice, and peace.

The Jewish Folk Chorus has been in existence since 1926 with a vast repertoire of Jewish music including songs in Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino and Russian. They stay true to their roots in the labor movement by preserving and performing works from their library of Yiddish labor songs. Through its 97-year existence, the Chorus has sung many interesting and difficult Jewish musical works, without forgetting the simple folk music of our ancestors. They preserve a rich, diverse and deeply satisfying musical heritage.

In person at The Magnes Collection, 2121 Allston Way, Berkeley, CA. Free event, no registration required.
