Oy Bay: Raucous Yiddish Zingeray – Purim!

Bust out your finest grey-brown felt cap, your most freylekhe¹ dancing shoes and your geshmakt²-est shtetl³-red accordion (either a *real* one or the one *in your soul*) – cuz you’re COMING to a rousing evening of song, and dance, and Yiddish joy!

Our now-monthly zingeray, is a traditional Yiddish singing circle in joyous community. Bring in the new week, delight in each others’ company, and learn holiday (Purim) and other music from Ashkenazi folk tradition over tea, wine, and snacks.

+++ PLUS! We’re also gonna go over songs and phrases that we learned last time, cuz we wanna actually build our sustained knowledge, not just let songs go!

~~~All levels of singing experience, Yiddish knowledge, and Jewish engagement welcome, encouraged and deeply craved.
~~~ This is a learner’s space and we’ll be diving into the linguistic and cultural context of the music, with plenty of time to learn the words and melodies.

~~~ more accessibility and other info in post on event feed !
