Experience the sounds of a 19th-century East European Jewish wedding through the ritual music that celebrates love & community.
Klezmer music was the music that accompanied all of the rituals of the east European Jewish wedding of the 19th and 20th centuries. From escorting guests to the celebration and festivities, to the unveiling of the bride, to introducing the mothers in law to each other, to the many dances done to celebrate the couple. Along with co-territorial dances melodies, and listening tunes, these 7 day affairs were filled with music. In this concert, Veretski Pass will lead the audience through the many musical stations of this life cycle event, which was important not only as a way to celebrate the union, but as a way to vitalize and expand the community.
