Yiddish Holocaust Song Workshop and Sing-along, with Binyumen Schaechter

The Yiddish Philharmonic Chorus presents online Yiddish Song Workshops and Sing-alongs, led from the piano by music director Binyumen Schaechter. This event will be Holocaust songs.

Participants learn and sing Yiddish songs on particular themes, with lyrics and translations provided on screen so everyone can sing along.

Participants also learn linguistic, musical, and historical background for each song. Schaechter aims to help you learn some Yiddish and to inspire those familiar with the songs to hear them in a new way.

Themes explored so far have been Yiddish Chanukah songs, Yiddish Purim songs, Yiddish Pesach songs, and songs based on the poetry of the great Yiddish poet Itzik Manger.
