The multiple Tony award-winning masterpiece about love and hope under the direst of circumstances, based on Yiddish stories of Sholom Aleichem, leaps onto the Contra Costa Civic Theatre stage in the final production of their 65th season.
Tevye, a dairyman, struggles to find balance while raising five daughters on the verge of womanhood in his small village of Anatevka (likely in Ukraine). But a changing world threatens old traditions, and Tevye’s family must decide between the comforts of holding tightly…and the freedoms of letting go. Includes such classics as “If I Were A Rich Man”, “Matchmaker”, and “Sunrise, Sunset.” Bruce Bierman and Laura Sheppard of Yiddish Theatre Ensemble are Cultural Consultants for the show.
