That Good Ole Jewish Sound, with Josh Horowitz ONLINE

There’s a lot to be got in each and every phrase of melody. Josh will show step by step how to phrase and ornament every teeny tiny fragment that make up the phrases of klezmer tunes. From the micro to the macro, we’ll take a melody and run it through a series of techniques to give it variation and new life.

Leaning on the time-tested methods of Baroque improvisation and the folk secrets that informed its practitioners, Josh will apply the process of “diminution and augmentation” to klezmer tunes to lead students through a way to not only play tunes, but to “think” about them differently. For intermediate and advanced students alike. Fun and informative to boot.
