As curator of the blog Yiddish Song of the Week, now in its eleventh year, Itzik Gottesman has received many field recordings from family and friends of the singer, asking him to identify the song. This kind of research is a lot of fun when it has results, but frustrating when nothing turns up. In this talk, he will offer a practical guide on how to find a song and relate his experiences with the blog. A number of musical examples will be played. Audience members are welcome to bring songs that they want to know more about.
