Yiddish Classes in (or online from) the Bay Area, Yiddish Classes Online

Free 10-week beginning Yiddish course on Zoom, taught by Yankl Levitow,
Wednesdays, 5:30-7pm, starting January 18, 2023

The course is offered both on Zoom and in person at the JCC in Los Gatos. Free tuition, however there’s a charge for course materials.

Why do some people “shlep” rather than “carry?” Why do they “kvetsh” rather than complain? Learn Yiddish and find out! This introductory Yiddish course offers a rare opportunity to learn the Yiddish language from the ground up, covering basic, everyday vocabulary and essential grammar. Aspects of Yiddish culture, music, and stories will also be discussed. The course is for students who already know some words and phrases and those who know absolutely nothing about Yiddish. It will be taught by Yankl Levitow, Yiddish instructor at U.C. Santa Cruz and Stanford University.

Presented by San Jose State University’s Jewish Studies Program for students and for the community.
